The Reason
Dogs are born into this world, and are expected to function in our society.People tend to give up on dogs when they are misunderstood.Just like us, every dog is different. Not just breed to breed, but dog to dog.I want to help owners understand their dogs, and keep as many dogs out of shelters or worse.
About Matthew Irizarry
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating high school, I moved to Chicago where I received my Bachelor's Degree from Columbia College in Chicago. A few years later, I found myself residing in Nashville, Tennessee. Then, three years later, I decide to come back to my roots, where I ended up settling down in Austin, Texas. Throughout all of my journeys in life, I have always had a dog by my side!
My Bachelor's Degree is in business management. I utilized my education and experience by opening and operating restaurants throughout Nashville and Austin. This is where I learned how to problem solve, listen and come up with solutions as a manager. During my time in the food and beverage industry, I found myself as a top trainer within each company I worked for, which was gratifying, but I always felt like there was something missing in my career.
After 10 years in the service industry, I realized I needed a change in a more fulling career for myself. I had always shown interest with the veterinary industry and specifically dog training. But it wasn't until I adopted Shea over four years ago, I decided to do a deep dive into understanding dogs and how to communicate with them. I found the art and science behind dog training extremely intriguing. Not only would I be doing right by the dog, but I could also help make a difference in an entire household. It was in early 2022 that I realized I should turn my hobby into a career, as a professional dog trainer.
Once my decision had been made to switch careers, I accepted a job with celebrity dog trainer Nick White's company, Off Leash K9 Training. I received professional and in-depth training of what goes into becoming a successful trainer. Within a year, I became the lead trainer of their branch in Austin and Central Texas. While working for Off Leash K9 Training, I worked with all types of breeds, young dogs, old dogs, large, small, aggressive, playful, stubborn. Recently, I parted ways with the company to further expand my training tools and cater to the specific needs of dogs and their owners.
I finally found what I was missing. It was right by my side this whole time. My life experiences and education have given me a whole new understanding of what I deeply searching for in my career. This life transition I made over two years ago sparked a passion that I never knew I had when it comes to training. I can honestly say this is the most rewarding and fulfilling position I have ever taken in my life, which is something I am extremely proud of!
